Hi guys,
It’s Eni again. Last week I had a very pleasant iftar at the Liwan Restaurant in Al Ghurair Arjaan Rotana. A little earlier in the day, my friend Halimat and I met up a to do some shopping at Al Ghurair Center which is linked to the hotel and after several hours of trying clothes on we were ravenous.
The buffet offered a wide array of choices, including Shish Barak, Fish Chermoula, roasted chicken, lamb stew, chicken biryani, lamb ouzi and a live shawarma station. There was an abundance of dates, dried fruits, nuts and juices. The live band playing was a really nice touch to our meal and it really complemented the ambience of the restaurant. It was a laid-back feel and very kid friendly. There was a nice little play area for toddlers, so this is definitely on my list for dining with families.
I broke my fast with dried apricots, watermelon and karlkadeh. If you don’t know it, karlkadeh is also known as Hibiscus tea and its simply divine. My main course consisted of succulent roasted chicken with roasted potatoes and a salad on the side, which I thoroughly enjoyed. During the meal the servers brought freshly baked bread and a choice of tea or coffee to the diners, which I thought was a great touch of service.
For my best part of every meal, dessert! I had the banana in butterscotch was simply heavenly and I recommend it if you go for this iftar. I also had the blueberry crumble with yoghurt and an absolutely divine crème brulee.
It was a nice experience and Halimat and I definitely recommend it.
(Disclaimer: My meal was free)
