Hi guys,

Two days ago, I had the pleasure of having Ifar at Yalumba, Le Méridien Dubai. It was a lovely evening to be out as I was in the company of friends and family. Here are a few details about what I wore.

We arrived at 7pm and on entering the dimly lit hallway I was immediately transported in a modern version of Arabian nights. A large selection of Arabic desserts were displayed near the entrance and I could feel my stomach beginning to rumble but alas it was still 7:05pm, a whole 7 more minutes till Iftar. I hurried in and met a large exhibit of food across several cuisines; sauces, rice, pasta, vegetables and so much more. After we were seated, I patiently waited for the Magbrib Athan and as soon as sound of the Imam musically floated past my ears I reached for a glass of water and a handful of dates, Alhamdulillah.

I decided to start with the salad bar. I loved the fact that you could build you own salads with a wide selection of toppings. I created my version of a smoked salmon salad, which I topped off with a delicious tartare dressing. For my main course I had a portion of butter chicken and biryani. I also tried the Shish tahook, which was smoky and lemony just the way I like it. Another of my favorites from the buffet was the sweet and sour fish, which I ate with a selection of breads. My girlfriends and I were stuffed but we still had room for dessert, which was an array of ice creams, fruits and my favorite a date cake.

I said a silent prayer to God for the ability to eat. Ever so often I caution myself with a reminder to give thanks, many people fast but cannot afford to feed after. This holy month of Ramadan please be charitable in anyway that you can, you might be saving a life. If you live in the UAE, this article on The National can point you in the right direction on how to help during Ramadan.

The buffet starts at 7:00pm and ends at 8:30 so you can eat till your fill. Overall we had a lovely experience and the staff was attentive and cautious.

Do leave a comment if you have attended this Iftar or you plan on going. Till next time, Gbemi x
